Meet our girl Chelsey Rouen!

We had a little sit down with our girl Chelsey Rouen! We have worked with Chelsey on a few shoots and gosh, she is just beautiful inside and out. Chelsey loves to travel (and reassures us that the bug is real). She spends her spare time reading books, painting and of course taking some beautiful photos. The way Chelsey captures her world in such a stunning perspective, with contrast and light is amazing. We honestly just can't get enough of her, check her out on Instagram and you will feel the same (@chelseyrouen). Here is a bit of a sneak peak of all things Chelsey.

1. Tell us a little about yourself
Where to start...well I’m 28 years old and after a lifetime of travels, I’ve settled in much loved Sydney. I’m originally from the UK, although Australia has always felt so much more like home. I first stepped foot here 7 years ago when working for Emirates and from that moment on, I knew this was where I was meant to be! I love to travel (the bug is real), take photos and paint. I spend as much time as possible at the beach and my favourite thing to do is watch the sunrise and generally enjoy the simple things in life.

2. You are currently living in Sydney, what that is like? Why did you decide to settle into Sydney?
Sydney was the first place I visited in Australia which instantly felt like home. Although I love being in nature and away from the crowds I somehow ended up in Bondi! We are currently looking at moving to the Northern Beaches for a little more calm and hopefully there we will settle.

3. We just adore you sense of style and fashion, what are some of your go-to's?
Honestly, plain staples in natural fibres. I don’t think you can beat a plain natural linen dress. I like my clothes comfortable and most of the time oversized.

4. We have been lucky enough to work with you on a few shoots now, tell us what it is like to be on the other side of the camera?
I actually prefer to be behind the lens rather than in front of it. I love creating beautiful storytelling imagery, as natural as possible. With that, it usually call me to be both sides of the lens.

5. You definitely have the travel bug! What are 3 favourite places you have visited recently?
Oooooh I have so many favourites. Can I have 5? They would be...Portugal, Mexico (although I haven’t been in a few years it will always be my favourite, Tulum in particular), Morocco, Maldives and Jordan.

6. Do you have any travel tips for us?
Research, research, research! I can spend hours upon hours researching a place, finding the best places to eat and see. Sometimes I do it just for fun when I don’t actually have anything planned. It saves so much time when you’re at the destination and gives you time to enjoy with out feeling any kind of frustrations on what to do and where to eat. With that being said, I also think it's important to just go get lost in place (still knowing the best places to eat of course) and I always love to wander the streets early in the morning before the crowds come out!

7. What does a day in the life of Chelsey look like?
Wake early and put my legs up the wall for 10-15 minutes, followed by meditation and ideally (on my days off) the the beach! If I can get a morning swim in I will always be my happiest self. On the cooler days, I will go and pick up a coffee from Harry’s and take it to the grass and read my book. (I’m always reading a book.)

8. What is your favourite spot in Australia?
Anywhere quiet with a beautiful beach!?!
Hmmmm, that’s a tough one. I used to be crazy about Byron Bay but we haven’t been the past 2 years as we've spent so much time overseas. The Whitsundays are a dream but I wish you could swim without a wet suit!

9. Do you enjoy life as a blogger?
I have to say blogging is still just a very fun hobby for me. As much as I love being creative and travelling, work can take up a lot of time and energy. I always need to give myself down time which doesn't leave me with half as much time as I'd like to be creative! However, I absolutely love working with brands I adore, I just wish i had more time to do so! Another of my passions is making people happy so if I can make just one person happy in my day I’ll be over them moon!

10. What is your favourite brand at the moment?
I wouldn't say I have a favourite. Small boutiques and vintage shops are always a go to though!
